Lincoln Opens Spring Slate With a Sixth-Place Finish

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Lincoln men's golf team opened its spring slate with its best finish so far in 2022-23, as the Blue Tigers claimed sixth out of 10 teams at the Buccaneer Spring Invitational, hosted by Christian Brothers University at Irene Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday (March 6-7).

Remon Rabie led Lincoln with a three-round total of 223, placing him 15th in the individual standings. Rabie lowered his total in each of the three rounds, as he carded a 77 in the first round and a 74 in the second before firing a team-low 72 in the final round.

Austin Shoemaker tied for 25th with his total of 229, as he opened the tourney with a 79 before shooting a 75 in each of the last two rounds. Dedrick Harris II also had a 75 in the third round to go with a 78 in the first and an 81 in the second. Harris ended up taking 31st with a total of 234.

Henry Mwanza closed the scoring for LU by also lowering his totals in every round. Mwanza, who placed 42nd overall, opened the tournament with an 83, then shot a 79 in the second round and a 78 in the third.

Lincoln will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday (March 13-14) at the 8th Annual Hillcat Classic, which will be hosted by Rogers State University in Owasso, Okla. at Bailey Ranch Golf Club.
